Opening by the Mayoress

The mayoress greeted the event media team and met with members of the international media who were present before thanking and introducing the official sponsors of this 33rd edition.  She higlighted the significance and uniqueness of the showdown which is about to take place in a few days time, especially the cutting edge technology and innovation that is evident with the giant multihulls.
She described the event as an « Exceptional opportunity which will make Valencia a reference city in the history of the America’s Cup”

The mayoress highlighted that the city is not just engaged in hosting the America’s Cup for the second time, but becomes the first city to host the America’s Cup and a Formula 1 grand prix in the same year.  Training has been taking place in Valencia 1st to 3rd February on the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

Rita Barbera also drew attention to her approval of the official colours for this America’s Cup.
