Race 1, Views from the dock...

A pair of Swiss-Germans couple from Basle have been in Valencia since last Saturday and are staying until Sunday. This morning they had taken up position, alpine bells ready, in front of the giant screen.
“It was quite emotional at the base this morning. We could feel the team was really focussed. We’d like Alinghi to win and again on Sunday. Of course it is frustrating not to get racing but we have checked with our bosses a few days ago and they said we could stay a bit longer!”
This foursome stayed for six weeks in 2007, but they are hoping this will be a shorted visit, and that they will return home triumphant again.

And two Italians Rafaele and Crisitian who turn out to be BMW ORACLE Racing fans.
“ We 've been following the Cup since Azzurra was involved. This race is more about pure technology and the show, than sailing skills But still, we came here to see it ! We know catamarans and trimarans are the future. But for someone who does not know anything about sailing it's difficult to understand that there is wind out there and the boats don't go sailing ! We believe that the team who wins today will win the Cup. We like BMW ORACLE Racing because Alberto Barovier (Bowman, ITA) is from our region in Italy but we are open to all that can happen !”
